some of the topics addressed in tonight's class motivated me to remove my comedy videos. i figured, if some lady gets canned because she has non sexual pictures of herself in a bathing suit on the internet...i'm screwed.
it`s not to say that i am the edgiest comedian ever, in fact i am far from it. but i could definitely see some administrative people having a thing or two to say about what i do on stage in my spare time. it`s not for the whole family.
As much as i disagree with the idea of employers anonymously keeping tabs on people`s electronic lives, there is really no way to get around it. if you`re not doing anything wrong you can`t get caught.

BLOG#1
Hi.
My name is graeme zirk. i don't think you're scum...it's from star wars...but this is a nerd class, it felt appropriate
i am twenty two and am in my first year of arts ed. i am a little older than most first year students, that's because i took a few years off. i didn't know what i wanted to do so this is what i did to pass the time...
i did katimavik (it's a voulenteer exchange program where you travel all over the country,i worked in schools, comunity organizations and senior's centres...while at the same time coming of age, it was awesome)
i attended a year of new media @ siast...(this is where i developed my distaste for technology...let's just say i got to see living evidence of what 37 years of living in your mother's basement playing world of warcraft and eating cheetos will do to a man/woman...it's not pretty.)
i worked a bunch of jobs with disabled adults...it was great. i really loved working a job that wasn't about money. that inspired me to look into teaching...which in some ways was an odd choice because i am far from being an academic...infact i flat out suck in most subjects...but i have always been fairly talented in the arts...and here i am in arts ed.
these days i work and live in the residence at my old high school as a dean. it sounds crazy but it is a great job and an awesome learning experience for when i am teaching. that and it's free food and housing...who could pass that up?
when i am done school i plan on moving to a big north american city(toronto, vancouver, los angeles or new york) and working as a comedian. comedy is the one the few things that passionate about. i have been organizing comedy shows and performing stand up for almost 2 years now. i am far from being good, but i feel like im getting alot better. i would love for it to be my job some day because i hate desks....and children (that was a joke). for now i am working on sharpening my writing skills and finding my "voice". im on youtube...look me up if you want...just don't judge me.
when im not worrying about school or writing down stupid joke ideas in a notebook i like to enjoy the finer things in life. such as biking while listening to my ipod, playing my guitar, making sushi, illin' with friends and drawing cartoons.
i think this class is going to be interesting...i am kind of stuck in the 90's when it comes to technology in the class room. i think computers are extremely neccissary, but i think they are being used WAAAAAAAY too much. i don't think teachers should have blogs, and i definately don't think teachers should be streaming videos of their students on the internet. i just don't like it. but maybe this class will convert me...it could happen, i used to hate root beer...now i don't mind it.
peace out
